I agree, wholeheartedly. There has to be a reason they would kidnap us from our own worlds and not just to enjoy ourselves in their own. Extortion doesn't work into it, not everyone here has the means to pay a ransom from my understanding of them.
If we could find the common link between all of us, then perhaps we can find out why. That doesn't give us the way home, but it gives us powerful information. True information rather than what we're told by our captors.

It's also not safe to help them look for their animals unless you can confirm that they do, indeed have one by asking to see a picture of it on their phone. Even then I wouldn't unless we split up to look and I had their contact information.
