[Katsuki should know he shouldn't be dealing with people face-to-face when he's mad. Text was safer. But this just... isn't the kind of thing that should be handled over text.

He was settling in for the night when Yoosung first texted. Freshly showered and wearing his own pajamas. A pair of basketball shorts and a tanktop. He was usually careful to wear things that hide the scar on his left shoulder. But it can be seen tonight. He's also scraped up and bruised again. Although they look partially healed already.

He pushes his way past Yoosung, one hand scrubbing through his hair. Fuck...]

Alright. Tell me what you know about this power.

[blurrier]

[Yoosung looks startled as Katsuki pushes his way past him, quickly shutting the door and hurrying to follow his guest. He reaches out to him, examining from their distance apart his scrapes and bruises and the visible scar.]

Ah! Wait, y-you're hurt! Let me get the kit...!

[He scampers to the kitchen for the first aid kit he'd left there this morning.]

[Katsuki pauses, taken by surprise. Here he is ready to chew Yoosung out. And Yoosung is more concerned with the injuries he got fighting earlier.]

What?? Did you just ignore me??

[He follows after Yoosung.]

Oy. Don't you ignore me!

[blurrier]

Ah, no, we can talk, I just wanna make sure you're okay while we do, okay?

[Turning around quickly, he nearly smacks into poor Katsuki in the kitchen doorway... Why does he have to look so attractive in his pajamas?! With his dumb big arms?! This is a mess. Yoosung is a mess.

He looks to the scar, half in the dark kitchen and the lighted hallway, fretting, hand hovering but not touching because he doesn't want to do that without permission and, like, understandably he probably wouldn't get permission.]

I-is this new, or...?

[Katsuki’s eyes widen a little, but he stays where he is, standing still in the doorway. His gaze drops to Yoosung's hand. Watching it. When it stops instead of touching him, his eyes shift to lock onto Yoosung's.]

A scar. My reminder of when I was too weak to save anyone.

[His hands come up to the doorframe, bracing as he stares Yoosung down.]

I swore it wouldn't happen on my watch again. That if anybody got needlessly reckless, I'd kick their ass. That includes you.

[Seeing Katsuki's eyes widen, Yoosung immediately takes his hand back, holding it close to his own chest while his opposite hand tightens its grip on the first aid kit.

He watches his friend essentially block his exit from the kitchen by bracing himself on the doorframe. His heart skips a beat in his chest, and a light flush spreads over his cheeks.

Yoosung's gaze drifts from Katsuki's expression over to his scar again. Something in him is itching to touch, but he tangles his fingers in his own pajama top instead.]

You can do that if you feel you have to... I won't stop you... [He actually doesn't seem scared by it, either.] But I don't want to be too weak to save anyone either? And if that means using this power that I have, then I'll do it. But...

[His eyes snap back to Katsuki's face again, determined.]

But it's not like I want that to be my only plan! Rhel told me to find someone to teach me magic, and I'm gonna do that! I'm gonna learn how to help people however I can, Katsuki! Whether you beat me up or not. You can beat me up a thousand times and I'll still try to help. And...

And...

[His voice softens, and he shyly drops his gaze to let his eyes dart over Katsuki's scrapes and bruises in addition to his scar. His hand tangles further in his pajama top, fingers gripping tighter, not caring if it's lifting the shirt from his stomach.]

And I'll still be here to clean your scrapes... and give you an ice pack... and let you fall asleep on my couch. No matter what you do to me.

[Katsuki finds it hard to really grasp everything Yoosung's words make him feel. There's something so achingly familiar in the way Yoosung is talking. And he knows why. His grip on the doorframe tightens.

The other him did this wrong before. Tried so hard to stamp out a spirit like this. And everything he's seen of this other him has made him desperately not want to be that. Actions and words that turn his stomach.

And yet... And yet he's still been that person. Like it's in his DNA. He doesn't want to be...]

Not trying to stop you from helping.

[He really does sincerely mean that. That wasn't what he was doing.]

Offer still stands to try to teach you some basic fighting shit. But...

Not gonna support you destroying yourself in the process. That power of yours... shouldn't be treated lightly. I don't wanna see the day it fails you.

[He can't do much to stop Yoosung from using it however he wants. But he also knows he can't handle watching him die again and again and again. Wondering if this time it'll stick.]

[Yoosung smiles, a soft smile, as he examines Katsuki's face for a moment. He nods then.]

Okay. I still wanna try to learn that too. And I promise I'll be as careful as I can but... If I feel it's necessary to save someone, I can't promise that I won't try to use it. But I won't... I won't treat it lightly. Because I don't want to hurt you or Rhel.

[So less because he values his own life and more because he's understanding now how much it will hurt for Katsuki and Rhel. And hurting his friends is the last thing he wants to do.]

[He studies Yoosung right back for a moment before stepping away from the doorway, no longer blocking him in. Instead he goes to drop on the couch.

He isn't happy with this outcome
but what can he do?]

What do you know about it? How does it work?

Mm, not a lot... One sec...

[Before joining Katsuki on the couch, Yoosung gathers some washcloths again like he did the night before. He drops the first aid kit on the coffee table and sits right next to Katsuki.

He takes out his ARCUS II device, opening it to reveal what is essentially a flip phone with a glowing golden stone in the bottom on the inside. The front plate is customized with a starry pattern. He hands the device to Katsuki before leaning over one of his arms to examine his scrapes and clean them as he talks. He does notice they're not as bad as yesterday. Maybe they're healing fast?]

I think it has to do with this thing. When I have it on me I can create these balls of light... Jun came over earlier and said he couldn't sense the power from me but both he and Rhel think it has to do with the gem thing in this phone.

[Katsuki takes it, turning it over in his hands. He doesn't know a whole lot about magic items. His fire magic just comes from the kitsune. And his explosions aren't actually magic. He just. Sweats nitroglycerin now.]

Yeah, they probably know what they're talking about. But could either of them give any idea what the parameters are? There are probably limits... but we can't really test that.

No, they didn't really know... So... That's kinda up in the air, I guess. With the other ability it seemed like I had to wait at least a few hours, but the balls of light are probably a lot easier than coming back to life, so...

[He continues working as he speaks, pausing when he gets to Katsuki's shoulder where he can see the scar. Obviously, it doesn't need cleaning or anything, but...

He can't ask more about it. Katsuki's probably said all he's wanted to say.

Yoosung sighs and switches the washcloths for some bandages, though at this rate since they're more healed he probably doesn't really need them. But it makes Yoosung feel better to do this for him, anyway.]

So you have no idea how long something like that takes to charge up basically.

[He scrubs a hand through his hair. This is so stupid in his opinion. And it's stressing him out to think about.]

This is playing with fire. You get that, right? That there's no way to reliably predict how long it takes to charge up?

[He sighs again before reaching over to take the device back from him.]

So what exactly is it that you're wanting me to do then, Katsuki?

I'm not trying to tell you what to do. I'm asking if you really understand how unreliable this is? If you're set on doing this... you have to understand that there's no guarantee it's going to work next time. That you'd be hoping for the best but that in the end it could be as final for you as it would be for the person you're protecting. You have to consider that. It's always going to be a risk until you figure out the parameters.

[blurrier]

[He stands up, bringing a hand to his mouth to bite his thumbnail as he walks around the room aimlessly, thinking.

Maybe they should find a way to test the parameters then? But he doesn't want to end up getting possessed if something goes wrong.

Ah, that reminds him...

He turns his head to look at Katsuki.]

You thought I might be possessed?

[That gets a reaction. Katsuki sits up a little straighter.]

[Ah. Right. He spoke to Jun. Likely he assumed the same thing Katsuki did.]

I was just wondering... How did you know about that? I never knew until Jun explained it to me. Though he acted like it was common knowledge or something?

Nuh uh! [He puts his hands on his hips and turns fully to face Katsuki sitting on the couch. The effect here may be a little like being stared down by a cupcake, especially in his pajamas covered in a pattern of cute bunnies.] You didn't ask me a question. You're dodging my question.

He stares right back at Yoosung,
